New: MelanoGray™

back

Mibelle Biochemistry has launched a new active ingredient MelanoGray™ against gray hair. The anti-hair graying essence is sustainably obtained by upcycling the peel paste of unique organic chios mandarins. Thanks to its melanin-stimulating and antioxidant action, Melano significantly reduces the number of gray hairs in men and women.

While genetic factors play the most important role in hair graying, hormonal fluctuations and unhealthy lifestyle are also associated with an increased likelihood of premature graying. Recent scientific studies have confirmed that emotional stress also promotes not only biological aging, but also hair graying.

Reduction proportion of gray hair by 21.6%

MelanoGray™ reduces the number of gray hairs by 21.6% in both men and women and has a long-lasting repigmentation effect (> 1 month). In addition, MelanoGray™ stimulates melanin synthesis and increases the resistance of melanocytes to stress. All these benefits make it a perfect ingredient to say goodbye to gray hair! The ingredient won the 2022 BSB Innovation Award in the category Cosmetics and silver at the Green Ingredient Award at in-cosmetics in Paris.

Chios mandarins as the basis for the new MelanoGray™ active ingredient

The essence is obtained from special mandarins that grow only on the Greek island of Chios. These so-called "Chios mandarins" are registered with the EU as a product with a protected geographical indication.

The Chios mandarins differ from the modern, industrially produced fruits in that they have a lot of seeds - this also led to a lower demand on the market. There are only a few farmers on Chios who still grow these mandarins today. One of these is the orchard in Kampos, where the fruit is still carefully harvested by hand.

Organic perfume essences are extracted from the mandarins. In the traditional small distillery in the same place, both the juice and the peel of the fruit are used for the gentle distillation process. After condensation, the mandarin oil floats on the water; this allows the two phases to be separated. The result is an aromatic essence with the typical, unadulterated tangerine flavor. The residual material of this process is a thick peel paste called pomace. This material is used to produce our MelanoGray™.
