Vincenzo Di Maria completed his apprenticeship as a warehouse clerk (now known as a logistics specialist EFZ) at the Frenkendorf site from 2000 to 2003 – at that time still with Mifa (now part of the Mibelle Group). During this time, he received close professional and personal guidance, encouragement and support from his mentor and teammates. His day-to-day work in logistics, taking on responsibility and working as part of a team laid the foundations for his future career – and sparked his passion for logistics.
Learning, moving on – and returning
After completing his apprenticeship, Vincenzo gained valuable external experience during a one-year exchange programme at another company in the French speaking part of Switzerland. As well as gaining new insights into a different logistics organisation, he was also able to improve his French.
The positive memories of his apprenticeship and the opportunities available to him at today’s Mibelle Group brought Vincenzo back to Frenkendorf. He took up a position as a logistics specialist and continued his professional development – first becoming a logistics specialist, and later a federally certified supply chain manager.
Today, Vincenzo is Head of Logistics & Distribution and, together with his team, is responsible for all logistics processes at the site – from goods receipt and internal goods flows through to dispatch and disposal.
What makes working at the Mibelle Group special for him
Vincenzo particularly values the diversity of logistics and the contact with a wide variety of people – both internally and externally. A strong team, a good working atmosphere and the cohesion within the Operations management team are, for him, crucial factors for success.
Vocational training is also a particular priority for him: «It shows that, as a company, we are investing in our future and actively supporting young talent. A solid apprenticeship is one of the most important keys to developing skilled workers in the long term and countering the shortage of skilled labour.»
Personal
Vincenzo was born in Italy and lives with his family in Trimbach (SO). In his spare time, he volunteers as a football coach – including for his son Davide’s team. He also finds balance in music and video games. Besides that, he is very interested in mental coaching and health, which are reflected in his outlook on life: «The trick is to get up one more time than you are knocked down.»
