Careers that begin with an apprenticeship at the Mibelle Group

back

In our series ‘Careers that begin with an apprenticeship at the Mibelle Group’, we introduce you to colleagues from our two Swiss sites who started their professional careers with an apprenticeship at our company. Some have continued their careers with us straight away, whilst others have gained valuable experience outside the Mibelle Group and returned to us with new expertise. These examples demonstrate just how valuable vocational training is to the Mibelle Group. For us, it is not only a sensible investment, but also something we are truly passionate about. Here we feature Matej Paunovski, an IT specialist (EFZ) specialising in platform development at our Buchs AG site.

Matej Paunovski has been completing his apprenticeship as an IT specialist (EFZ) specialising in platform development in the IT Security & Infrastructure department since 2022. During his training, he has been able to gain an insight into many different areas of IT. As we were part of Migros at the time, his third year of apprenticeship even included a
work placement at Migros, which gave him an insight into the complex IT structure of such a large company. Another clear highlight of his apprenticeship, however, was his involvement in the challenging carve-out process following the sale of the Mibelle Group. Matej describes these experiences as extremely valuable.

Motivation to stay on after the apprenticeship

Now, with his apprenticeship drawing to a close, Matej is very much looking forward to continuing to work for the Mibelle Group and gaining further valuable practical experience in a complex and forward-looking IT environment. His decision to do so was reinforced by the great trust placed in him during the carve-out projects.
Matej will therefore continue his career at the Mibelle Group as a Cloud & Modern Workplace Specialist from August 2026. He is particularly looking forward to continuing to support the carve-out of Mibelle Biochemistry and to playing an active role in shaping the carve-in into the Persan system. It is precisely these complex projects that drive him and show him that he is in the right place at the Mibelle Group.

What sets working at Mibelle Group apart

What Matej values most about his work is the IT environment at the Mibelle Group. Compared to large corporate structures, many systems here are operated and designed independently.
This sense of personal responsibility, along with the opportunity to implement solutions directly, makes his day-to-day work particularly exciting. He also highlights the strong support he receives for his personal and professional development.

And ultimately, for Matej, it is the perfect blend of independence and team spirit that makes the difference at the Mibelle Group. You’re not ‘just a number’; instead, you can make a tangible contribution to the success of large and complex projects.

Personal

Matej grew up in Wohlenschwil, where he still lives today. His parents are originally from Macedonia and came to Switzerland at a young age, as his grandparents were already living here. In his spare time, he can often be found pursuing his passion for Thai boxing, which he has been practising since the age of 15. Following a break due to injury, he is currently preparing for his next competition this coming December. He also has a keen interest in cars and enjoys spending time with friends and family. In both martial arts and IT, he is driven by discipline, personal development and the desire to solve problems effectively.
