The superheroes against skin ageing

Whether ingested as food or used as a skin care product, antioxidants can reduce damage caused by environmental influences, such as UV radiation or air pollution. Antioxidants are chemical compounds that occur naturally in the human body and slow down or prevent the oxidation of other substances in the body to protect it. First and foremost, we take advantage of their positive effect as radical scavengers. This is because free radicals snatch electrons from healthy skin cells, causing cell metabolism to change and destroy the cell from the inside. The cell and tissue structure are damaged and thus the skin's ability to regenerate is impaired. This leads to dry skin, sagging and dull complexion, pigment/age spots, and the formation of lines and wrinkles. Antioxidants in skin care are nothing new, but as negative environmental influences become more and also more intense, the attention to the effectiveness of skin care against harmful environmental influences arises. Antioxidants are superheroes in skincare because they counteract skin aging in a variety of ways:

Protection

Many antioxidants, such as vitamin E, glutathione, superoxide dismutase and ubiquinol, effectively protect the skin from external environmental influences.

Regeneration& Strengthening

Antioxidants, such as the omega fatty acids omega-3 and omega-9, firm and regenerate the skin and counteract premature skin aging.

Glow for dull skin

Vitamin C is considered a real glow booster. The antioxidant provides a dull complexion with new radiance, evens out imperfections and diminishes pigment/age spots. At the same time, it is known for its anti-inflammatory effect, thus alleviating signs of blemished skin.

Skin soothing

Sensitive skin also benefits from antioxidants. Antioxidants from chamomile or green tea as well as beta-glucan are particularly helpful.

Anti-wrinkle

Face care products are very effective when they contain a mixture of different effective antioxidants. While young skin contains sufficient endogenous antioxidants, the following applies to mature skin: the more antioxidants in skin care, the better.

Oxidative stress cannot be completely avoided even with the best care products, but with the right supplement of antioxidants - from inside and outside - as well as with a healthy lifestyle, it can be significantly counteracted.
