To raise awareness of this issue, dedicated Mibelle staff at the Kölliken waste treatment plant took a closer look at the contents of our residual waste from the Buchs site. In the process, various recyclable materials such as plastic film, hollow plastic items, cardboard and Strapex straps were sorted out and channelled into the appropriate recycling streams. The initiative demonstrated that materials which could be recycled are still ending up in residual waste and highlighted the potential of consistent waste separation.
As well as providing valuable insights, the initiative sparked interesting discussions about recycling, resource conservation and the contribution that each one of us can make.
A special thank you goes to all the volunteers who were willing to roll up their sleeves for this campaign and take on a task that is not necessarily the most pleasant. Their commitment has shown that sustainability becomes particularly tangible when we are prepared to take a closer look and act ourselves.
