After-sun is trendy

back

After-sun products are booming. Immediate relief, intensive care and long-lasting tan – the demands on, but also the demand for, after-sun care products have risen steadily in recent years and continue to grow. The reasons for this are more outdoor lifestyle and travel, but above all a growing awareness of the consequences of UV radiation and the importance of regeneration after sun exposure.

After a day in the sun, the skin often feels noticeably stressed. UVA and UVB rays can damage cells, leaving the skin feeling dry, tight and dehydrated. This is why after-sun formulations that offer immediate relief and soothing care, intensively hydrate and provide a freshness boost with cooling textures are in demand. Tan extenders that preserve the tan for longer, if possible with a glowy finish for a subtle shimmer, are also particularly popular.

The ingredients that matter

Well-informed consumers are paying increasing attention to effective, compatible formulations. These ingredients are considered proven:

  • Shea butter: rich, nourishes and smoothes dry skin
  • Glycerine: draws water into the skin, plumps it up
  • Vegetable oils (occlusive): lock in moisture, protect the skin barrier
  • Ceramides: support the skin barrier – inspired by the "skinification" trend
  • Hyaluronic acid: intensively stores moisture
  • Aloe vera: cools and soothes irritated skin
  • Niacinamide: helps to reduce redness and strengthen the skin
  • Vitamin E and plant-based antioxidants: support protection against oxidative stress

Important to know!

After-sun is a feel-good treatment for after sunbathing – but it is no substitute for sun protection. A suitable SPF remains essential for reliable protection against UV damage.
